Don
Hoskins, Technical Architect
Provided technical leadership and team supervision throughout all
stages of the software development life cycle.
Led the architecture definition, design and construction of
software solutions. Guided, mentored, monitored and assured quality
work product to plan and budget for teams of 2 to 10 resources.
Interfaced with customer resources and management on a daily basis.
Conceived, designed and constructed a second generation client-server
volunteer administration, inbound customer call entry and trip
management system using Microsoft .NET technology to replace an
existing Microsoft Access application for a community service
organization offering free transportation home to December holiday
revelers
Provided analysis and object modeling expertise using IBM Rational XDE
for a Web Service interface between health care jurisdictions as part
of a pan-Canadian electronic health record initiative
Directed the team designing, constructing, testing and deploying a
replacement broadcast coding system, enhanced to support multiple
engineering types, in an automotive assembly plant utilizing Microsoft
.NET technology
Designed and deployed an initial toolset, processes and infrastructure
to provide a requirements management repository employing Rational
Requisite Pro. Also created and delivered process and toolset
training
Conceived, designed and developed a suite of components written in
Microsoft Visual C# .NET to perform automated regression testing for
the elements of a complex object-oriented software construction
toolset
Headed the team designing and developing the presentation layer
elements to expand an automobile insurance quotation system to include
four categories of property risks. Deployed enhanced system to “raving
fans”
Led
the design, prototyping and development of infrastructure components
to support the construction of an automobile insurance quotation
system. Created and tested components within budget and on schedule
Provided leadership in developing plans and schedules for deployment
of an insurance claims call centre entry and administration system and
led the execution of the deployment plan. Conversion and deployment
were completed with no errors, on time and under budget, in a tightly
time-constrained window of opportunity
Directed the team designing, prototyping and developing the complex
series of processes required to export existing insurance claims
records from a legacy system and import them into a new claims
administration system. More than 20 years of records were converted
with no errors or unaccounted financial amounts
Don
Hoskins, Senior Systems Engineer
Designed and developed an Internet-based purchase order entry system
for large telecommunications services customers allowing them to
create their own purchase orders using a secure internet site which
reduced the staff required to support them
Headed up the team designing, prototyping, developing, and
successfully deploying an integrated call centre insurance claims
entry application reducing average call duration to less than 7
minutes, thus substantially increasing call-taker productivity
Led
the design, prototyping, development, and successful deployment of an
archived data storage and retrieval application reducing the maximum
retrieval time for any archived record from 24 hours to 20 seconds
Designed and developed key complex functionality for fire and
ambulance service computer-assisted emergency call entry and response
dispatch systems yielding greatly improved unit selection. Used
highly optimized call entry processes, real time unit location
information and new graphical views of the current strategic and
tactical status of the services
Don Hoskins,
Senior Systems Programmer
Provided leadership and direction in the ongoing management of
problems and availability for a suite of software service offerings
Led
numerous small to medium sized efforts to upgrade and enhance the
various software components
Designed, developed, and implemented a wide range of customizations
for the software
